An interactive on-line communityplaform for intellectual disabled people
J. Verbeek |1 september 2009

Today’s society is becoming more and more an ICT society. ICT applications enable fundamental changes in the economy and society. In that respect it is essential that people with less capabilities have access to the Internet. People with special needs, e.g. elderly, intellectual disabled and others must also take advantage of the benefits of a knowledge society. The Ookjij.nl community Platform is a unique social networking platform especially designed for the intellectual disabled. It is accessible for people with all kinds of (multiple) disabilities (e.g. intellectual, visually, physical and audible). The added value of the Ookjij.nl Community platform is to offer the intellectual disabled an easy accessible, safe and secure platform for communication with different persons (e.g. friends, family, teacher,…. ) and further development of their own skills, leading to an increase of their ‘quality of life’.
